Todos tenemos un referente en la vida que nos descubre cosas, inquietudes, intimidades personales que creemos no tener pero en un momento dado surgen de la nada hasta llegar a ser algo muy grande. Filosofía a parte, mi amor por la fotografía surgió de la manera mas mágica que os podais imaginar. Fue un momento único en el tiempo. Jamás olvidaré el día que cayó en mis manos una copia del primer álbum de Paul McCartney tras finalizar con el grupo. Debía tener unos trece años, acabando el E.G.B. Dado que en mi casa nunca encontré nada a nivel artístico, tenia que recurrir a mis amigos colegiales para recopilar los discos y grabarlos en los exentos casetes. Recuerdo muy bien ése día que me cruze con el álbum “McCartney” de 1970. Era una mañana de sábado de otoño y teníamos partido de futbol sala en el colegio. Ése día algo en mi cerebro se iluminó (nunca mejor dicho) y supe con certeza que eso iba conmigo. Al abrir la carpeta del disco descubrí el enorme repertorio de fotografías que iluminaron mi mente para siempre. Se trataba de un conjunto de imágenes tomadas por su esposa Linda McCartney, muy simples, sin retoque alguno, absolutamente familiares e espontáneas. Por aquel entonces todavía se creía en un concepto de portada e música (cosa que tristemente se ha dejado de hacer). Así pues la carpeta fotográfica del vinilo reflejaba la simplicidad de la música que hivamos a encontrarnos en el disco. Paul grabó gran parte del album debut en solitario en la sala de estar (living room) de su casa en 7 Cavendish Avenue de St. John’s Wood, Londres. Tocando todos los instrumentos y haciendo tareas de producción sin ningún tipo de mezcla alguna. Linda colaboro con sus deliciosas armonías vocales y por supuesto autora de todas las fotografías de la carpeta con su Nikon F y básicamente con un 35 y 135mm.

McCartney album back cover sleeve
We all have a reference point in life that we discover things concerns, personal intimacies that we do not have but at some point come out of nowhere to become something big. Philosophy aside my love of photography was the most magical way you can imagine. It was a unique moment in time. I’ll never forget the day fell into my hands a copy of Paul McCartney’s first album after finishing with the group. I must had been about thirteen years old, running out primary school. I didn’t find anything on an artistic level at home so I had to go to my college friends whose borrowed the albums and recorded in the exempt cassettes. I remember very well that day I collided with the album “McCartney” from 1970. It was a fall saturday morning and we had a football match in the school. That day something in my brain lit up and I knew with certainly that it goes with me. When I had opened the disc folder I discovered the huge repertoire of photographs that flashed into my mind forever. It was a set of images taken by his wife Linda McCartney, very simple, one touch, quite familiar and spontaneous. At that time still believed in a cover concept and music (which sadly no longer do). So vinyl photo sleeve have reflected the simplicity of the music you would find inside. Paul recorded much of his debut solo album in the living room of his house at 7 Cavendish Avenue in St. John’s Wood, London. Playing all the instruments and doing production work without using any mixing desk. Linda contributes with delicious vocal harmonies and of course she is the author of all photos in the folder with her Nikon F and mostly with 35 and 135mm. That started it all, I love you Lily!
